Lithium iodide trihydrate and anhydrous lithium iodide, iodide anhydrous
Chemical Formula: LiI ·3H2O (lithium iodide trihydrate);LiI(lithium iodide anhydrous)
Relative molecular mass: 187.89 (lithium iodide trihydrate); 133.85 (lithium iodide anhydrous)
Properties: white crystal, easy to deliquebilize, see light or long color yellowing. Soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. Lithium iodide trihydrate heats up to 73 °C to lose one molecule of crystalline water, and to 80 °C loses two molecules of crystalline water. When melted, it is corrosive to glass and ceramics.
Uses: Used in pharmaceutical industry, photography industry and synthesis related intraocular lenses.
